A Northern Leopard Frog

The children and I found this little frog hopping in the yard one day.  After everyone had a turn holding him we put it in the flower bed.   Curious what kind it was, I did a search, and found out it's a northern leopard frog. One interesting thing that I was surprised by is that these frogs can eat all kinds of things including birds! Here is what Wikipedia had to say:

"[These frogs] eat a wide variety of animals, including crickets, flies, worms, and smaller frogs. Using their large mouths, they can even swallow birds and garter snakes. In one case, a bat was recorded as prey of this frog.."

It was fun learning a little bit about this Northern Leopard Frog.  🐸
