Italian Sweet Bread

Italian Sweet Bread

1 cup warm milk
1 egg
2 Tbsp. yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. butter
2 tsp. Italian seasoning
3 cups flour

In a bowl, combine yeast and warm milk. Add the egg, sugar salt, butter and one teaspoon of the Italian seasoning. Add one cup of flour, stir well. Add the rest of the flour, adding more if too sticky. Knead dough until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl turning dough to grease top. Let rise for one hour, or until doubled in bulk. Punch dough down, and divide into two
pieces. Shape each portion into a ball. Place on a greased cookie sheet, flatten slightly. Let rise for around 30 minutes. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with the Italian seasoning.

Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes. Yield: 2 loaves
