Inspired to try Watercolours!

Two of my sisters are really good watercolour painters.  Inspired by them, I decited to buy my own water color set.  Now, I must say that the only experence I have with watercolors was when I was a little girl painting "masterpieces" with cheap - but oh so fun-  watercolour sets from the dollar store. :) I have a lot to learn, but I think it should be fun!

Ready to start experimenting with my new paints. My sister let me use her paint brush and taught me a few things too. :)

My first attempt was mostly trying to mix colors, my sister taught me how to blend complimentry colours  to make warm shades of grey.  As you can see from my little flower, I definitely need to practice a lot more! Lol

A page from one of my Mom's watercolor art books; I'd love to get this good! This method uses a fine tip pen to add texture to the paintings. My sister gave me one of the pens for my birthday, which I'm excited to try to use more! :)  I think I will have fun with watercolours if I can squeeze in some time to paint once in awhile. :)

Scripture Verse for Today

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."  Isaiah 41:10

Our 4th of July Celebration!

This year for the 4th of July, my mother-in-law (who happens to be a Canadian) :) had a celebration for her two American daughter-in-laws. :) I thought I'd share a few pictures of the things she made to make the day special. She really put a lot of thought, time and effort into it; it was super sweet of her!!

Mom painted the pot and planted these pretty flowers as a gift for me, she also made one for my sister-in-law. :)

Watching Grandma finish cooking lunch. :)

She also made these hair bows for the little girls. :)

She made very cute crayon art shirts for the four oldest little girl cousins. :)

Red, white and blue candles.

Enjoying lunch! We had yummy chicken salad, garlic bread and sweet tea. For dessert there was...

Red, white, and blue star shaped jello :)

Strawberries dipped in white chocolate with blue sprinkles, and also blueberry cheesecake. Yum!

Festive streamers. These two little cousins are best of friends! :)

We had a fun day! Happy (very late) 4th of July to my fellow Americans!!

Crown Him With Many Crowns

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."   Rev. 4:11

Crown Him With Many Crowns
the Lamb upon his throne,
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.

Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed o'er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save.
His glories now we sing,
who died, and rose on high,
who died, eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.

Crown him the Lord of peace,
whose power a scepter sways
from pole to pole, that wars may cease,
and all be prayer and praise.
His reign shall know no end,
and round his pierced feet
fair flowers of paradise extend
their fragrance ever sweet.

Crown him the Lord of love;
behold his hands and side,
those wounds, yet visible above,
in beauty glorified.
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
For thou hast died for me;
thy praise and glory shall not fail
throughout eternity.

My Favourite People

"I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof and be glad." Psalm 34

Here is a picture of six of my favorite people- I love them all a lot!  :).  I'm incredibly thankful for my amazing husband and our five little ones! :) Graham took off work most of Saturday to take us all to the park and then to town for ice cream, and shopping, it was a wonderful day; I am so blessed. :) I took this picture before we left the park.

The Word of God

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11

Around the Farm

I took a few random pictures the other night when the kids and I went for a walk. I love it that it is now warm enough to take walks and be outside more!

The grass is finally all the way green!

A spider web on one of the barns.

The slough behind the yard. It's been fun to take the kids by it and watch the different kinds of ducks swimming around.

Here is one of the rows of bins after a rain shower.  The yard was pretty muddy and by the time we got back to the house all of the kids were at least partially covered in dirt.

Matt decided this was as good place as any to sit down, you can't really tell it by the picture, but it was one of the muddiest places in the yard. Lol

A beautiful sunset.

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
