~Latest painting project~ Finished!!

Well, I'm finally finished painting! It took a bit of perseverance because of the detail-I thought I would never get done! It was fun though. :) I really enjoy working with oil paint. The book I was painting from did get overdue by around four day's but I found out our library does not charge overdue fines on books, which is nice. :) It took me 18 days to finish, I'm happy to finally have it done. :)

~Finished~ :)

Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 106:1

Things Don't Just Happen

Things don't just happen to us who love God;
They're planned by His own dear hand.
Then molded and shaped, and timed by His clock.
Things don't just happen; they're planned.

We don't just guess on the issues of life,
We Christians just rest in our Lord.
We are directed by His sovereign will
In the light of His holy Word.

We who love Jesus are walking by faith,
Not seeing one step that's ahead,
Not doubting one moment what our lot might be,
But looking to Jesus instead.

We praise our dear Saviour for loving us so,
For planning each care of our life,
Then giving us faith to trust Him for all,
The blessings as well as the strife.

Things don't just happen to us who love God,
To us who have taken our stand.
No matter the lot, the course, or the price,
Things don't just happen; they're planned.

Herb showcase: Rosemary

Rosemary is one of my favorite herbs to use when cooking. Do you have a favorite herb you like to use? I thought I would do a series of posts about different herbs that are commonly used for cooking, with a little information and maybe a recipe that uses each specific herb. :)

A little about Rosemary

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant evergreen needle-like leaves. It is native to the Mediterranean region. It is a member of the mint family Lamiaceae, which also includes many other herbs. Since it is attractive and tolerates some degree of drought, it is also used in landscaping, especially in areas having a Mediterranean climate. It is considered easy to grow for beginner gardeners, and is pest-resistant.
When grown in pots, it is best kept trimmed to stop it getting too straggly and unsightly, when grown in the garden, rosemary can grow quite large and still be attractive. It can be propagated from an existing plant by clipping a shoot 10-15 cm long, stripping a few leaves from the bottom, and planting it directly into soil. -From Wikipedia

I don't have any potted rosemary at present but hope to get some soon, we mainly just use dried rosemary from the store. One of my family's favorite things to do when we make baked chicken is to sprinkle rosemary, and Parmesan cheese on the chicken, with a little butter, before putting it in the oven. It gives the chicken a wonderful flavor! Do you have a favorite recipe that uses this herb? :)

A Light

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

~Puppies~ :)

Our Shih-Tzu dog "Kayla" just had six puppies on Monday. I was happy that she had them during the day this time, as in the past she had litters in the middle of the night. Here are a few pictures, aren't they cute? :)

Let all those that seek Thee rejoice..

Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee: let such as love thy salvation
say continually, The LORD be magnified. But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: Thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

~Latest Painting Project~

Hello everyone! :) Here are a few pictures of what I've been doing in my spare time the past few days. I have only used oil paints once before, and this picture has quite a bit more detail then my previous attempt so I'll have to see how it goes.

Ready to paint...

And Here is what I've done so far (on the right)....

I really enjoy working with oil paint since it stays wet long enough for me to correct any mistakes that I might have made. :) Anyway, I will try to post a picture once I'm all the way finished. The picture that I'm painting from is in a library book so that will give me an incentive to get it done faster before it becomes overdue. :)

Never Alone!

Never Alone!

I’ve seen the lightning flashing, I’ve heard the thunder roll. I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, which almost conquered my soul. I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, bidding me still to fight on. He promised never to leave me,never to leave me alone!

The world’s fierce winds are blowing, temptation sharp and keen. I have a peace in knowingmy Savior stands between—He stands to shield me from danger when my friends are all gone.He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

When in affliction’s valley I tread the road of care, My Savior helps me carry the cross so heavy to bear; Though all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown; My Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone!

He died on Calvary’s mountain, for me they pierced His side. For me He opened that fountain, the crimson, cleansing tide. For me He waiteth in glory, seated upon His throne. He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!

Chorus:

No, never alone, no never alone, He promised never to leave me, He’ll claim me for His own; No, never alone, no never alone. He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.

Scripture of the Day

From the rising of the sun

unto the going down of the same

the LORD's name is to be praised.
