What We Say Matters

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."

 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11

On Being Content

''Discontentment is not a product of circumstances; it is the state of the soul.''
 ~Debi Pearl

Part of my flower garden two summers ago:)

''But godliness with contentment is great gain.  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.''

Simply Beautiful

At our new house there are many different kinds of flowers blooming in the yard, and the nice thing is, they were already here when we moved in. :) Right now, there are beautiful lilies blooming; I was out weeding a few days ago and could hardly believe how many different ones there are. I didn't get pictures of them all, but here are a few. I think my favorites are the bright yellow ones.

"Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these." Luke 12:27

Verse For Today

Lake Louise, July 2011

"Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. Bless the Lord My Soul!

"What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?"~Psa. 116:12

"Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing."~Psa. 107:22

He loads us with His benefits
Until no want we know,
And then He sends a little more
That makes our cup o' erflow;

He opens wide His hand of love
He gives no stingy dole
His tender mercies crown our days
Oh bless the Lord, my soul!

Lake Seminole, Florida

"The joy of the LORD is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10).

"Let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice" (Psalm 68:3).

"The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in Him; and all the upright in heart shall glory" (Psalm 64:10).

"Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted" (Psalm 89:15, 16).

"Our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name" (Psalm 33:21).

"Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory" (1Peter 1:8).

Sombody Said...

"I can do all things through Christ which strengheneth me."
~Philippians 4:13

Old corrals, Alberta Canada

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it..

A Psalm for Today

I took this picture when my husband and I visited Mount Vernon. The guides there told us that this tree is original to the estate. The Potomac River is in the background.

Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness; come before His presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath made us, and not we ourselves: we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endureth to all generations.

Saskatchewan Winter

Here are a few pictures taken this winter here in Canada:). Most days the temperature hasn't been as low as -40 F, but it still has been quite cold. I love the snow, and I am enjoying winter very much:).

Real cold, forty below zero!
(My wonderful husband:) gets the credit for this photo).

Neat old abandoned buildings on the property

Beautiful frost covered trees

"He giveth snow like wool: He scatterth the hoarfrost like ashes. He casteth forth His ice like morsels: who can stand before His cold?" ~Psalm 147: 16-17

Thy Word

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." ~2 Timothy 3:16-17

Thy Word is like a garden Lord
With flowers bright and fair;
And everyone who seeks may pluck
A lovely cluster there.
Thy Word is like a deep deep mine;
And jewels rich and rare
Are hidden in the mighty depths
For every searcher there.

Thy Word is like a starry host,
A thousand rays of light
Are seen to guide the traveler,
And make his pathway bright.
Thy Word is like an armory,
Where soldiers may repair,
And find for life's long battle-day
All needful weapons there.

Oh, may I love Thy precious Word;
May I explore the mine;
May I it's fragrant flowers glean;
May light upon me shine.
Oh, may I find my armor there;
Thy Word my trusty sword,
I'll learn to fight with every foe
The battle of the Lord.

Receive one another

::A Beautiful Psalm::

Photo taken in Tallahassee FL.
"I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever."

God's Presence, Promised.

Here are just a few verses from God's Word that speak of HIS PRESENCE WITH US. How very encouraging to is to know God is with us, and cares for us! Praise His Holy Name!

"My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest" (Exodus 33:14).

"The LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them" (Numbers 23:21).

"Fear thou not; for I am with thee" (Isaiah 41:10).

"Thus shall they know that I the LORD their God am with them" (Ezekiel 34:30).

"The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you" (2Chronicles 15:2).

"The LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee" (Deuteronomy 31:8).

"If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him" (John 14:23).

"And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed" (Joel 2:27).

A Precious Promise from God's Word

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

The Great I Am

God reveals Himself as the great "I Am", and the Lord Jesus, again and again, during the time of His ministry on earth, spake of Himself as "I Am". Now, people almost always tell us what they are and how they feel. Some say, "I am so ignorant!"; some. "I am so sinful"; some," I am so stupid"; or "I am so timid." But when the Holy Spirit takes possession of us, He shuts up all the "I am" of our nature, and turns us to the one great "I Am", and in which we take our place by the side of Paul, and say, "I am nothing"; or go down even lower to Him Who was "meek and lowly in heart", and say, "I can of mine own self do nothing" (John 5:30).

Yield yourself unreservedly to Him. You say, " I am weak"; and you are; but the true "I Am" joins on to that name of His, "the Almighty God". Where is He Almighty? Where He dwells. Just let the Holy Spirit come into you and dwell within you, then His Almightiness walks about with you wherever you go. If Satan tempts you to the old sin, there is Almightiness dwelling in Him Who dwells in you, and surely you need not doubt whether the temptation shall be overcome or not. God is equal to it, though you are not. Shall the "I am" or our self-life be that of Paul, "I am crucified with Christ"? There is an end of me, and end of all my complaining of myself, an end of that old song of what I am-"I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live.".

Romans 11:33-36

"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been His counsellor? Or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen."

Go to the Master

"Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD He is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else." Deuteronomy 4:39

We need in our daily life walk to be influenced directly by the Truth Himself, not by what someone thinks about it. Get your marching orders, strength and comfort from the Master Himself!

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5

Scripture of the Day

Image from Wikipedia
My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

~Proverbs 3:1-7
