We found this huge egg in our driveway a few days ago. It is about 3 1/2 inches long, quite a bit larger then a chicken egg as can be seen in the picture for comparison. I thought it I would post the picture and ask if anyone might know what kind of egg it is? :) There was no nest in the tree above where we found it so we are assuming that one of our dogs carried it to the driveway which probable means it is from a ground nesting bird.

Mystery Egg

Duck? Are there any near your home? Or perhaps...Turkey...maybe...got any of them?
We don't have any ducks but we have seen a turkey in the back woods, maybe that was it! I just was not sure their eggs were quite that large. Thanks for the comment! :)

Are you going to hatch it? I can't wait to hear what it turns out to be! I was thinking a goose or turkey also, but maybe an alligator or large snake or turtle. Is the shell leathery and somewhat soft, or is it hard, like a bird's egg? Because if it's soft, then it's reptilian of some sort. :)

I think it was a birds egg since it had a hard shell. :) It got cracked, so no we can't try hatching it. It would have been interesting to try though. :)
