Mushrooms or Toadstools

The other day I was walking in the yard and I noticed that there seemed to be quite a few mushrooms (or toadstools if you prefer, Botanists do not separate mushrooms and toadstools into two different groups. Some people give the name mushroom to the kinds that can be eaten, and toadstools to those that are poisonous. ) growing. We had gotten quite a bit of rain a few days ago which probably had something to do with it. Well anyway, I thought it would make an interesting post so I grabbed the camera :) and started taking pictures. I was amazed at the different kinds that I found in just a small area of our yard. The encyclopedia stated that: "There are about 38,000 known species of mushrooms." !I found several interesting websites here, here and here about mushrooms. All of God's creation is amazing! These are a few of the pictures that I took:

I thought this one looked really interesting!

Great pictures!
Mushrooms and toadstools seem to pop up almost overnight! It's really amazing how fast they grow.

Oh, and may I ask, what kind of camera do you use?

What a neat post! God's creation really is amazing - "Who has known the mind of the Lord?" He invented mushrooms out of nothing. No one else could have thought of such a thing.
Thanks for sharing all those unique pictures!

Believe it or not, I've just been wondering about mushrooms. :-)

I've seen several of those. In fact, just on Sunday I was walking in the back yard and discovered one of the types you photographed. I wondered at how many variety there must be, but didn't bother to find out any more.

Thanks for filling me in! You wouldn't think something like the mushroom could be so interesting... :D

Glory to God! Peace. --Jacob

What an interesting post! Very unique pictures! Did you lay on the ground for some of them? After taking design and drawing class (at a Christian university), it really makes me wonder at how God takes the time to make each thing different, Every blade of grass, every piece of bark, every mushroom...

Hey Bryant, :)
The camera I used is a Hewlett Packard R717 with 6.2 Megapixels and 3x optical zoom. :) I used the "macro" setting to take these pictures.
