A Year Ago

Three hundred and sixty five days ago:) I saw my (then future) husband in person for the first time:). I can still remember driving into the airport parking lot late on June 9th with my parents and little brother and seeing my dear:) Graham standing just outside the airport terminal waiting for us. At the time we had been writing and calling for around four months. It was exciting, and I was nervous:):). We had a wonderful visit and at the end of it Graham asked if I could come up to Canada to meet his family. With my parents permission I said "yes!":) and my sister and I went up in August of last year. Graham and I were engaged in August and married (more wedding pictures here) three months later in November:).

On the front porch of my parents house in Florida:)

We don't have many pictures of that first visit, but here is one:). I couldn't have imagined that just one year later we would be married, eagerly awaiting the birth of our baby. The Lord has truly blessed us! I am so very thankful He brought Graham and I together; I could not ask for a better husband. :)

Barn Cats

Out in the old red barn

Up the loft stairs..

In a pile of hay bales...

In a little hole, is a mother cat with five kittens:)

"Tabby" and kittens

Four of the little kittens.

My nephews and I have had a good time visiting the barn almost every day and checking on the kittens. Their eyes have now opened, and they are so cute:). We always had cats when I was growing up, and now it's been fun having them around the farm:).

Beautiful Roses....

My wonderful husband gave me these a few days ago:). Brings back memories of other times when he has surprised me. When I (along with my sister) visited his family in Canada he was waiting for me at the airport with roses. Another time when we were courting, a surprise package arrived in the mail; upon opening it I discovered twelve gorgeous red roses:).....and that is just to name two of the times:).

I love you Graham! :) I am privileged to be your wife.

Sombody Said...

"I can do all things through Christ which strengheneth me."
~Philippians 4:13

Old corrals, Alberta Canada

Somebody said that it couldn't be done,
But he with a chuckle replied
That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one
Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it";
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat,
And the first thing we knew he'd begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn't be done, and he did it.

There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure;
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start to sing as you tackle the thing
That "cannot be done," and you'll do it..

Cardamom Sweet Bread

I used to make this bread before I was married, and it always seemed to disappear as soon as it was done baking:). The cardamom gives it a nice flavor; it's good warm, cold or toasted. If you prefer, you can cut back on the sugar by 1/4 cup and leave it off the top for a slightly less sweet bread.

Cardamom Sweet Bread.
Yield: 2 braided loaves

2 1/2 T. active dry yeast
1 1/2 c. warm milk
3/4 c. sugar
3 egg yolks
1/2 c. butter, melted
1 t. cardamom
1/2 t. salt
flour

Dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, egg yolks, butter, cardamom and salt. Stir until well blended. Add three cups of flour, and mix until smooth. Add more flour and knead until you have a soft dough. Let rise in a greased bowl for one hour or until doubled in bulk. Punch dough down and divide into six pieces. Take three of the pieces and shape into long rolls, braid into a loaf. Do the same with the remaining dough. Place on greased baking sheets and let rise for 45 minutes. Brush risen loaves with milk and sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes or until done:). Enjoy!
