Puppy Cuteness :)

Here are a few recent pictures of our Shih-Tzu puppies. They are now seven weeks old. My favorite is Lady, she has such a sweet personality, but of course the others are cute as well. :)

Bird Watch-The first Robin of Spring

Birdwatching has been something I've enjoyed for a long while and the American Robin has aways been one of my personal favorites. As Spring fast approaches it brings back memories of seeing the first robin of the season. When we were still living in central Illinois I remember that the Winters always seemed so long and how exciting it was to see the first robin which indicated that spring had finally arrived. :) After moving to the South I was delighted to find that though the robins don't arrive in Spring, (our winters are mild anyway) we have them in the Winter. For the past few months we have enjoyed having the Robins here, one time I counted more then 50 robins in our front yard at one time! I have not seen any for a few weeks, so for those of you who live up North they are probably on their way! :) Below is a little information about Robins that I found interesting.

A Little about the American Robin:

The American Robin is a migratory songbird of the thrush family. It is widely distributed throughout North America, wintering south of Canada from Florida to central Mexico and along the Pacific Coast. It has seven subspecies, but only T. m. confinis in the southwest is particularly distinctive, with pale gray-brown underparts. It is the state bird of Connecticut, Michigan, and The American Robin is active mostly during the day and assembles in large flocks at night. Its diet consists of invertebrates (such as beetle grubs and caterpillars), fruits and berries. It is one of the first bird species to lay eggs, beginning to breed shortly after returning to its summer range from its winter range. Its nest consists of long coarse grass, twigs, paper, and feathers, and is smeared with mud and often cushioned with grass or other soft materials. American Robin nest

Hidden Rainbow

Christmas Carol Kauffman is the author of eight books. Of the seven book by Mrs. Kauffman that I have read, Hidden Rainbow probably ranks as my favorite. :) It is the true story about a family living in Yugoslavia who, after receiving a "forbidden" New Testament, are led to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

-Cherry Nut Bread-

This bread is very easy to mix up and it taste wonderful hot or cold. This recipe originally came from my grandpa on my mom's side of the family. :)

-Cherry Nut Bread-

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
3 tsp. baking powder
3 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
1 jar maraschino cherries
(cut into 1/4's & add some juice too)

Mix together the sugar, egg and milk. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder. Stir in wet ingredients. Blend in nuts and cherries. Pour in a greased loaf pan. Let stand 30 minutes. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold. :)

:::Bible Book Puzzle:::

This is a puzzle that I found recently and my sisters and I had a lot of fun trying to find all 30 names, it took awhile but we finally did find them all. It was interesting how well some of the names were "hidden.":) Have fun! Probably the easiest way to do it is to copy and paste and then print it out, which is what we did. :)

"This is a most remarkable puzzle. It was found by a gentleman in a n airplane seat pocket, on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours. He enjoyed it so much he passed it on to some friend. One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat. Another friend studied it while playing his banjo. Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column. Another friend judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves. There will be some names that are really easy to spot. That 's a fact. Some people however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized. Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or scholar to see some of them at the worst. Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in this paragraph. During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, the Alpha Delta Phi lemonade booth set a new sales record. The local paper, The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen. As Daniel Humana humbly puts it, "The books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight." Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown. One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers. Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal. A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers. Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus; there really are 30 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found. God Bless."
