A Favorite Meat Marinade

This marinade is very easy to make, and it taste super good! I've only tried it on beef, but I'm thinking it would taste good on pork chops too. :)

Teriyaki sirloin steak Marinade

1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup oil
1/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. ground mustard
2tsp. Ground ginger
1 tsp. garlic powder

1-2 lbs meat. The recipe calls for 1-2 lbs. sirloin steak.

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Put meat in a ziplock bag and pour marinade on top. Seal bag and refrigerate for 4-6 hours. When ready to cook, remove meat from marinade and cook as desired.

The ingredents.

Ready to put the marinade on the steak.

Put the meat in a large ziplock bag and pour the marinade on top.

Seal the bag and put in the refrigerator for 4-6 hours.

Grilling the steaks. Our countertop grill is so handy, we use it a lot!

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we have! :)

Indoor Fun: Fizzy Colours

This is another kid friendly project we tried.  :) The children drop coloured vinegar onto a tray of baking soda causing a fizzy coloured reaction. All you need is: a large tray or pan, baking soda, food colouring, vinegar, and eye droppers, and your set for some fun!:)

I'd say the best ages for this is three years old and up. My one, and two year olds just made a mess with it. :)

I dyed the vinegar green, orange and blue.  Next time, I'll probably let them have more colours. I was thinking they could learn about mixing colours, but this project isn't the greatest for it, as the vinegar didn't mix well after it was in the baking soda.

The kids had a good time, and I was happy that it kept them occupied for a long while. :)

Mr. Snowman

A week or so ago, the weather was perfect for making a snowman. I rarely can go outside during the winter because it's too cold to take the two youngest babies out, but on this day it was above freezing, and I decided to go out for a few minutes and make a snowman with the kids. We had lots of fun! :)

We borrowed Willy's cowboy hat, and Abby found the sticks for his arms. :)  I think Mr. Snowman turned out pretty cute! :)

I Stand Amazed in the Presence

Olive trees in the traditional Garden of Gethsemane.

I Stand Amazed in the Presence

I stand amazed in the presence
  Of Jesus the Nazarene,
And wonder how He could love me,
  A sinner condemned, unclean.

 How marvelous! How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be:
How marvelous! How wonderful!
Is my Savior’s love for me!

For me it was in the garden,
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat-drops of blood for mine.

In pity angels beheld Him,
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.

He took my sins and my sorrows,
  He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
  And suffered, and died alone.

When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.

An Encouraging Calendar

Today, I thought I'd share one thing that has been a encouragement to me lately. :)  Before I was married, my family used to order (they still do) new calendars from a company called Bible Truth Publishers. They sell beautiful color calendars with KJV Scripture verses on them.  This year, I ordered few myself, and I also decided to get one of their spiral bound "Choice Gleaning" calendars.

I'm glad I did! :) it's sitting on a ledge above the kitchen sink, and while washing the dishes I can read it and have been encouraged many times.  :)  Each day has a Scripture verse, meditation, poem and suggested Bible reading.  I know it might be a bit late in the year to order new calendars, but if you are interested you can visit Bible Truth Publishers website HERE. :) They also sell a lot of good story books and biographies.
